I've been making slow but steady progress - I had a bit of an issue with the front wheel being wonky (caused by some damage i'd inflicted to the bracket holding one of the lower fork rubber buffers) but hopefully that's fixed now.

Should have it on two wheels in the near future with any luck

Back on its wheels at last

My Lui 125 conversion - Page 5 9727569786_40a4142a76_m

Now the last really tricky bit - getting the wiring loom sorted

I'm a bit worried about how wasting paint is to chip , it seems much easier than the last one I got

Well because of the fact that my old loom is a Lui one and intend to fit a rear brake light activated by front and rear brakes, a vega light housing so I can have full and dipped beam and lastly because of the electronic conversion and that I have changed the position of the junction box - see my post on LCGB forum - but thinking about it on the way home from work I'm wondering if I can get away with a Vega one.

To answer this question I could really do with seeing where the loom goes to fit the junction box on a Vega. Any pics by anyone would be appreciated

I intend to fit a LED brake light to a lui light unit so the loom may need some modification at the back light too I guess as a Vega had a single duel filament bulb.

Talking of which am I right in thinking that the loom on a Vega comes out from under the rear mudguard and then to the junction box? If I used a Vega loom and routing I think these would too short.

Also is the loom not crushed by the mudguard? Or is there a hole in the frame or mudguard for the loom to pass through?

the loom does come out from under the rear mudguard to the junction box.
be aware mate that the loom also come out of a hole where the engine mount spindle is, I had an early lui frame many years ago, and that hole was not present Exclamation

Why does that not surprise me.

Why why why did thry bother

Mine has the hole you mention it also used to have some wires that passed under a frame strutt now that I think about it. That connected to the flywheel cover. I hope that this is not normal on the vega or I could be lifting my leggies!

Any chance you could measure the length of the cables from rear mudguard to, is it the coil? Or a junction box?

Crying or Very sad hate to be bearer of bad news snails, but the loom does run under the legsheilds and on top of the rear left strut and then front left then goes up to the fork stem from inside of the legsheilds.

Thanks Daz, that's alright regarding the bad news, once you have put it together and then taken it apart again a few times you get really quick at it Smile

Do you think you could measure me the loom length from mudguard to junction box/coil? No huge rush as I have other thing to sort that will keep me occupied. Rolling Eyes Very Happy

It's far easier to make a loom and use the thinwall cable, you only need 4 wires ,ignition, main feed to lights ,horn and brake switches ( T - offs) another for rear light feed and one more from brake switch to rear light. Then you only have the one wire coming from the regulator.

You I think you are probably right Wack

I have drafted up this as a wiring diagram. Any thoughts positive or negative welcome.

I've based most of this on my old wiring from the Lui which worked as far as getting the engine running, the parts I have and what Wack and Daz have given me as information. I've tried looking at a Vega wiring diagram but that justt servers to confuse me even more!

My Lui 125 conversion - Page 5 9773712571_70231ce88e_z

The bit i'm least sure about is the blue from the regulator connecting up with the brown from the horn but that's what I did with the Lui as it only had three wires from the headlight - brown, black (to rear light) and green (to coil obviously)

Oh and thinking about my diagram I've realised that I need some way of powering the rear light and brake light separately as I will not be using a duel filament bulb like in a Vega but a Lui rear light with the addition of a LED for the brake light. I've no real idea of how to do that either.

Lol no. I just wish I'd bought a Vega!

What do you think? Looks good? Or don't know? I might throw the question up on the LCGB forum. There's some pretty clued up electrical bods on there.

throw it over to the otherside snails, the led's generally work better with dc current, I dare say someone will be able to draw up a loom for you to follow.
