keeping it cool
water cooling is now in the mix, just the head to keep it simple. i have looked at a radiator from a gas gas trials bike, nice and small with a fan if needed . i wont need the engine cowl as the cylinder is upright (better air flow over the cylinder). and the varitronic ignition i will be getting has no fins on the fylwheel. the pump will be driven of the spare feed from the varitronic ...... simples the head will be made from the same billet as the packer plate. it will be a 2 piece job and i might even move the plug to the centre ( easier to machine). with a small adjustment to the frame for clearance

Crickey. Nothing like keeping it simple!
Really looking forward to seeing this. You think you will only need to cool the cylinder head if its water cooled?

Simon, from what i can see your engineering skills are bang on, your pushing new boundries here i think with the water cooling idea. Carry on with the idea this is the stuff that will stand out in the future and will be looked back on as to how you did it.

cool running
just noticed something regaurding the radiators i am looking at. motor cross radiators are slightly bigger with no fans. trials bikes have very small rads with fans, as trials bikes spend a lot of time ticking over with no air flow over the rad they need a fan. vice versa with motox. i will going with the no fan route. something like these will do the job

box
i will be making a box to fit inside the outer frame. the holes in the outer frame will have some captive nuts on the back then the inner box will have some counter sunk holes in so that the heads of the fixing bolts will be flush with the surface of the box. you will then be able to remove the inner box if you need to to add or remove your hidden electrics or water pump
