Last time I saw Mick which was about a month ago he hadn't started on my items. He is quite a busy chap, but still wants to build a exhaust. His dyno will come in for some use as he wants to run on both barrels and exhausts, but it's all up to him in the end. I'll keep you posted when something happens.

Still nothing started on the reed work yet Crying or Very sad I was down at Mick's yesterday making him a silencer box thing for his Dyno . Once he's cleared his racing work he's starting on mine, I watched him slowly form some exhaust pipes for a Kawasaki KH 250 (think that was it) the pipes twisted this way and that like a bit of Macaroni, nothing like the standard ones he took off. Amazing work all done from steel plate he still insists the pipe he has in mind for my bike will make a huge change to what I currently have. The mind boggles  bounce

O.K Things are starting to move at last Embarassed I've got the barrel and piston back from Mick Abbey with some windows cut in the piston a little shaved off here and there and a nice boost port in the barrel with work done on the transfers etc.

I've just to work out some packers/spacers to make the carb avoid the cables and chaincase side. Then it's back to Micks, to Dyno the bike as it is now, to establish a benchmark to see the difference when on the Dyno with the reed block e.t.c fitted. Further plans are to fabricate a exhaust to make the most from Mick's work, which he already has drawn with my input of a heat guard to stop me burning my trousers!!!!
Exciting times bounce

Well I took my bike down to Mick's this morning to run it up on his dyno pre reed block /barrel fitting to get a bench mark to work from. His machine gave a reading of 8.77 H.P, Now I can get cracking in the garage.

arm wrenching power Thackers:)
great pictures and information, hopefully, mick will get it a real flying machine.
I saw some of his work on youtube on a T5 cylinder.

it would be great to get a proper cylinder like yours cast in alloy and nicasil lined.
I was chatting to a fellow scooterist some years ago (ash, was his name) and he had foundry experience and was looking for a tuned cylinder in order to do what I've mentioned.
I don't know if he ever got one, but it's certainly food for thought.
I have mentioned it to shiobhan a few times, and she is good friends with Tino sachi, thre is a market for this stuff, but unfortunately it's a small one and not one which would see big profit returns, hence they get put on the back burner.
but well done to you for the progress.
keep us updated dave.

Interesting stuff indeed Daz. I dare not say what Hp mick is predicting but it's well into Double figures, so much so I hope he's wrong. His pipe design will bring the best of it to the fore, that's the last stage first I have to get this barrel fitted . Stay tuned.

Which gears will you be using Thackers?
Be careful on your rev range or you may find it a total pain to ride.
On standard Starstream you need about 8500 + revs to hit 70mph
which is more than a little bit scary and not very good for engine longevity.

Good luck

Sorry, I didn't see the last post. Mick is developing a pipe which will run for best results within 7000 to 7500 revs but will have plenty of pull afterwards (his terms which i'm not too sure on) The gearing is just what I have in now so no changes there.

It's all back together now and waiting for me to take it to the dyno. It's very weak at the minute (I haven't changed the jetting yet) but it's really responsive and I can feel it's miles better. It will get set up with the Kegra pipe on for the while then when Mick makes the pipe it will be set up and done. I'll try remember to video it on the dyno and post up.

This evening I finally got the bike on the dyno at Micks. He ran it up about 10 times making tweaks here and there the result...............................12 B.H.P genuine and mick thinks with his pipe there's more to come!!!!!!!!!!!
As for the pipe he's saying it will be quite long but will work better than the Kegra I have now. He was saying something about the baffles sitting above the pipe in the style of a WW2 doodle bug. Very Happy Very Happy
I just can't wait to get it out on the road

Cheers Daz, I must admit I'm pleased with it and it will do more, I've just realised the carb slide doesnt fully open up.
Luke, do you think the app is a un real reading? Its called speedview. I checked against my car speedo and Tom Tom sat Nav. It's on the money with those (car slightly slower). Also Micks dyno reads lower than most tuners. I have his word his is correct.
