Well today I was showing a friend my Vega that I'm building to be a replica of BK207, which was the turquoise media whore Vega used in Australia. As I'm looking at the media pics I notice something:
Look where the bloody indicators are!
Now, I've never seen a rear light unit with the indicators up there and my friend says "That's where mine are".... so he's bringing it over in a few days (The rear light unit) and I'll get some snaps.
Daz, looks like Innocenti originally had the same idea as you, but then changed it... for some reason.
Now I'll have to go and bake some humble pie. Tastes awful too. :-(
BTW, this morning I realised why nearly all the Australian Lunas have footpegs. Here, if you have a seat for two, you must have somewhere for the passenger to put their feet, thus to be legal, we had to have the footpegs.
We also had a "Vega Ag", which we think stands for agricultural (It does on other vendors machines), and they were cheaper, didn't have indicators and didn't seem to have footpegs. Probably because they weren't meant for public road use.

Re: latest project
forks filled with weld for added strength, damper brackets added and then smoothed over.
finally got a rear shocker, chrome on the spring aint great, but will do for now, also got petrol tank back from painters, thank goodness for the cassa tank rubber, anyone ever tried to fit the original ??
i tell you dont bother !!! get one of these.
petrol tap fitted using a mixture of old and new parts, the body of the old type with the rubber seal and cup from a new tap, far better than the old way with felt washers etc.

Re: latest project
a few more little bits done yesterday while kids were at school and the Mrs at work.
springs back from been the platers, had them yellow zinc plated.
once again thanks to pete for giving me them.
while busy cleaning things up, thought i'd polish up the steering clamp and stainless allen bolt, (i know all anorack stuff but it was a rainy shed day)
lastly fitted speedo into the headset, notice anything unusual

Re: latest project
put the forks together today using the spare links, i will have to rebuild them again when i get the other set of links back from the chrome platers.
the springs are new, the original rod springs were rather rusty so got some new ball bearings and fork rods from rayspeed's these are for the gp, so just cut them to the same height as the original vega ones.
just glad its now movable in the garage.
hopefully given time tomorrow i will bolt the exhaust on and get it running, then to sort out the electrics
not sure about the damper gaitors any thoughts guys / girls?

Re: latest project
electrics now sorted, well sort of, not used the indicator switch yet, just in case i buggered something up and damaged it, took years to get one, so just used a original switch.
had a couple of problems, due to the horn, lights and brake switch initially having there own power feed on the vega stator.
main problem was the back light not working, caused a couple of head scratching moments turned out to be just a poor earth, the light unit is earthed to the frame but due to the paint and powder coating this was stopping the earth.
just now need to check it using the vega indicator switch and then put the sleeving and heat shrink over my loom.
currently looks like a accident in a spagehti factory with all the wires everywhere
i'm away now for a week, so keep a eye on the spammers !

Re: latest project
all lights and indicators working
these indicator switches are a pain, they have 3 more wires than a regular switch but its hard to get them all to fit when securing them to the handle bars.
i have made my loom, and i'm pleased as punch with it.
still lots to do though
