Wiring loom damage
Ok I've had to strip my scoot but one consolation is that Ive caught the loom being rubbed by the legshieds. I think that the routing should be between the frame strut and the legshields. Anything I can do prevent it rubbing?

Ive not quite decided whether to follow Paul's advice or not yet, I cant quite remember does the loom in standard fashion, go above both struts or just the front one?

Re: Wiring loom damage
has the legsheilds started to split ed?
might be an idea to get them tig welded back up before they get any worse.
the problem with these little machines and the amount they rev, is that it causes vibration, which causes problems like that unfortunately, especially if the part was under stress in the first place.
The thick rubber washers i got were from ebay, many years ago, i put them with various other stainless nuts and washers and made some handy kits up.
sadly snails its just a time trawling through the internet to find them, and when you do hope you can only buy a few rather than a hundred or so
im not sure, but are tap washers hard (ish) nylon, if so that might have contributed to the problem too.

Re: Wiring loom damage
Yes it has split There is also a small split somewhere else where it has been coming into contact with the frame.
Thinking about it over night I'd come to the same conclusion regarding the tap washers. There was a guy on Facebook the other day who had done a bitza- I wonder what he has done, think I will drop him a line

Re: Wiring loom damage
So on closer examination I think the reason the loom would have been rubbing - or an additional reason - is that the weld to fix the broken frame strut takes up the space where the loom should run.
I'm consequently looking at different paths for the loom, under the leggies. I cant quite figure out how Paul runs his loom..so I'm running it in the space between the two fixing bolts on each strut. Is the loom supposed to move freely in this space or would you say its ok for it to be trapped a little by the legsields being bolted to frame struts?
I've replaced the anti vibration rubbers with some ones remade by Jem..
