Luna 50 - German (another find...)
Hi Mates, I'm back to business..
Picked this one up for the lady last summer close to Cologne.
It was purchased at the same dealer like Floryam's one by the mother of the seller.
According to her she once used it for a solo (!) holiday trip to the "Balaton" in Hungary - more than 700mls from her home. Not bad, still waiting to get some fotos.
For you Anoraks I made some pics from the alterations by Innocenti for German export...
Note the legshield beading incl. end caps:
Different lock from "Neiman" making it necessary to alter the frame, fork and beam incl. a special plate:
ID-Plate and frame number stamped on the right side! If you look closely they called it "Lambretta 50S-4" while the front batch clearly shows LUNA.
Front mudguard with additional rubber to protect the pedestrians legs:
And this is the "German" inlet compared to an "Italian-market" Lui50 one - would have been to fast otherwise. Same number on casting btw:
It'll be an easy rustoration for the next months so it should be ready for spring...

Re: Luna 50 - German (another find...)
great pictures, its always nice to see something new, i have not seen the lock type before, or the front mudguard and legsheild protectors, could they have been a later addition?
i have seen several (swiss i think) long front mudguards.
the 50 S models tend to be a bit of a mix and match, possibly to meet various countries specifications, some had vega type exhaust, some have rear brake light switch, some have fullsize seat , and all ones i have seen had vega type flywheel and stator with the vega type headlight.

The long mudguard versions where the Swedish export versions, as far as I know.
Again the German Luna is different to the "50s" export version as they don't have the Vega headlight and also only the Luna stator & flywheel. They even don't have the horn!
All the alterations I mentioned above are original done at the factory, i.e. if you look closely to the front mudguard you will see that the section for the rubber has been cuttet away in the metal to have enough space for the insert.
I will make some close-up pictures later, meanwhile for you rubber fetishists out there here is a section of the original drawing :
