Rare stuff clear out.
Never say never but I'll probably not do another restoration for some time. I'm trying to sell my fully restored Vega and I've also got quite a few rare bits I'd like to turn into cash. My problem is what are they worth? I don't use eBay and I'm sick of selling stuff too cheap only to find that someone I thought I was doing a favour too has doubled the price and sold it on.
For starters I've got a 4 speed gearchange. Two late type flywheel side bearing carriers. A Cometa front drive sprocket. A Cometa tank. A complete stainless kit of front axle, nuts with damper stud threads, centre stand brackets etc ( made by a forum member if I remember) and other small stuff which I'll list later. Advice on what these bits are worth please.

I'm afraid I can't help you price on those items but I would be very interested in the axle & nuts if you come up with a valuation.

Re: Rare stuff clear out.
Hi Paul,
Always a difficult one, but this is my personal opinion on it.
I would tend to use rimini or similar sites as a reference guide of what a new item would be and then think about 60 to 70 % of that for used items.
I've sold a fair few bits of Scooter parts over the last few years, and probably far too cheaply, but they always sell at a price I feel comfortable with and it's a quick turn around back into cash you can use for other things.
You see scooter stuff at silly prices in Italy now, and they just don't sell.
Example- i saw someone buy some forks the other week for around £20, and they are now back on eBay UK for £275, they will never sell at that, but they will keep relisting them forever.--Why?
The things that you see as rare items I would suggest eBay as it gives you a wider reach to improve return prices.
Any way, if you have a Vega 75 layshaft for £40, or a Vega outer casing with kickstart mechanism for similar I'm interested.
Regards,
John

Re: Rare stuff clear out.
Sound advice John. I always carboot and autojumble stuff at prices that don't break the bank because basically I want to clear out and any cash is better than clutter. The scooter stuff I have now is hard to come by so I'm not giving it away only to line someone else's pockets at resale.
Only engine internals I have are 3 speed. All the 4 speed stuff has gone apart from the Cometa front sprocket.

A lot of stuff is over on FB now as I can't put pictures on here. I'll have some other nice small lots when this stuff is gone. Please tell othe 'Lunatics' about the stuff I'm selling.

Well that was a waste of time putting it all on FB. All I got was others hijacking my post to sell their stuff and some debate about exhaust shield hole spacing.

I saw that Paul, that's the devil of Facebook everybody pitching in with no real input. I made some more of those plaques after an outcry for demand when it came to it, silence. It can have it's uses but it's as bad in equal measure.
