Front Dampers
Remembering all the potholes in Ireland at Eurolambretta ´98 made me thinking about an improvement on the front forks since I would like to use the Cometa next June to go to Killarney.
Some time ago I purchased an old stock of Lambretta parts from a dealer in Swizzerland, including some strange (at least to me) brackets - but now I think I know what to use them for:
Have you seen these before?

Re: Front Dampers
i agree some extra buffering is required on the front end.
not seen them before, and i dont like the look of the outside nut, it has a shouldered edge, where it should fit into the fork link.
use it by all means, but i'll be sticking to the other damper set up.

Re: Front Dampers
The pics show just the "beta" setup for aligment of the upper fixings.
The brackets have a welded in ring fitting into the forklink (where the nut used to fix in).
Seems I have to use a longer spindle as well. Will Post a pic of the brackets alone later.

Re: Front Dampers
You need one of Daz's super dooper extended front spindles with screw in damper studs. There the best way forward

Re: Front Dampers
I suspected as much after all this time, Daz.
Am I correct in assuming that the distance pieces are standard Vega front hub, and that the spindle is just extended and tapped at the end? If so, can you recall how long your extended spindle is?
Thanks for any help
Paul

Re: Front Dampers
spindle was standard length, just internally drilled and chamfered to accept the damper studs

Re: Front Dampers
No they were on it when it was in Karslakes ................... Jem did some copies a few years ago and im guessing they were copied from similar "original" ones used on early damper conversions.
Should add that they have been recently re-galvanised alongside much of the original bare metal parts

Re: Front Dampers
I've just ordered some hexagon bar, 20.8mm diameter, to get something made up to accommodate the generic bottom damper stud. I'll keep you posted.
