Looking good - nice to see it all up and together - you'll have all the snags sorted by the time we come out of lockdown.

A variety of things, Ed. My expectations that it would be as smooth as a large frame, the handlebars have had a hard life (as has most of it) so where it mates with the twist control is a bit loose and the cables. Now I have used it a bit more, I have got a bit more used to it.

I am not impressed with the smoothness of any of these specific Vega cables.

When I have put some miles on it, I am going to take the tunnel off again and probably adapt a decent set of friction free S3 cables to fit.

Also, I believe I need to look again at the cable routing. I say this as now the tunnel is on the speedo cable is trapped by another cable.

Yeah mine is quite clunky, and I have the added complication of cut down bars which gives little room for the grip to move into gears 2 and 3.

I need to redo my cabling to I suspect but Ive lost the will at the mo.

I have just been riding around locally trying to set the jetting. As I say, I am getting a bit more used to the gear change. It seems you have to be quite brutal with it but I didn’t actually miss any gears.

I have replaced the old and slightly battered gear shim which only gave a gap of 0.10mm with a new thinner one of 1.6mm. This gives 0.30mm gap and has markedly improved the gear change.

I have borrowed a standard exhaust, rather than my fettled version, and am still messing around with the jetting.

At present, I am on a 47 pilot, main 75 and with standard atomiser 5899-6 and slide 5914-1. I have ordered 77 and 79 mains as I suspect it’ll take a bit more than the 75 I have in.

I have a 5899-5 to try in the next few days but I suspect this will be too lean. Has anyone tried a 5899-5 before?

That's good news about the gear change.

Can't help with the jetting as mine is 125 but I use no 6 atomiser still.

Tried a 77 and it’s marginally worse so it’s in the ballpark 73-75 and I have settled on a 48 pilot.

The other issue I have been messing around with is whether to run a standard exhaust or the one I have removed a baffle from and enlarged the tailpipes.

GPS top speed on the baffle removed one is only 2/3 mph more but it loses torque and quick acceleration before wide open throttle. Also, it is seriously loud which at high revs, which of course they all are, making it almost unbearable. So, it’ll be a standard exhaust.

I have come to the conclusion that 5899-6 and 5419-1 is about as good as it’ll get. Plug colour looks good all through the range
