Kickstart Shaft fitting
I could probably do with putting up a picture, but let me try and explain first.
I am used to Series 3s and the way the kickstart shaft fits into the sidecasing. I can see my Vega is different!
I have changed the O ring on the shaft that fits in to the casing. As there is no oil seal, am I correct in assuming that this O ring is all there is to keep it oil tight?
Secondly, am I correct in saying that there is no circlip holding a shim in on the outside, ie in between the shim and the kickstart kever?

No circlip on mine
The whole of the Kickstart mechanism is a bit on the loose side and you have to be careful on fitting it does not slip

Re: Kickstart Shaft fitting
Thanks, Ed. I have just found a couple of shims that are a decent fit so I’ll have a mess with them.

Re: Kickstart Shaft fitting
Having finally built my engine, albeit that it won’t run for several months until I sort the bodywork, I can see that the shaft noticeably moves in and out when I depress the kickstart lever.
It engages fine with first gear but is this usual?

Mine did the same. Id tighten up the shaft bolt but after a few kicks it would slip again. I shimmed it it out to prevent it slipping. I think it's down to a worn KS pedal?
