Using the RD 80LC Barrell etc
As Daz H mentioned it in another post what are the pros/cons etc of using the RD 80 LC barrell etc. In fact which parts would you need - new barrel, piston, cylinder head? How radical would the gearing have to be changed etc.
Any ideas would be appreciated.

Re: Using the RD 80LC Barrell etc
they were good for 80mph so thats a pro, yet very economical.
several firms also do conversion kits for these to around 110cc, the cylinder is quite small and compact.
i think they were a 42mm stroke, so using a vega crank would give extra cc's
cons fabrication would be required, welding etc

...here's an idea i've had..? what about using the rd reed valve piston in a casa alloy barrell ? I think its the same bore ..? can't remember or spell dimensions..lol... and adding a reed valve...
not had time to follow this idea up...the skirt length and hole size in piston may be an issue...?

RD 80
Good thinking Joey - I live near to the tuner Harry Barlow (of Pro Porting fame) he's a Yamaha as well as Lambretta tuner so I'm going to quiz him on this one

RD Barrell
Trying to pin Harry Barlow down is harder than trying to pin me down sometimes So far no joy
Re: Using the RD 80LC Barrell etc
..just need to find out the depth of the skirt from the pin centre and how much skirt from the windows to the base as I have a feeling it might have to cut to fit...?

... does anyone know what the clearance gap measures between the piston skirt and the crank webs at bdc...from my guesstimates the rd piston looks good -4mm off skirt.. Leaves about 4mm from skirt bottom to port window hole.....?
