a bit more done today, got stand and brackets on, steering cups in, and steering lock on.
fitted the kickstart shaft into the casing and it was not engaging on gear teeth, turned out to be some muck and a tiny bit of rust inside, a fiddly job to strip down, but all working well now. Very Happy
spent about two hours looking for a lambretta script badge for the front legsheild and a innocenti badge for the rear of the frame, i have got new ones but cant find them Evil or Very Mad

as ever with these things, innocenti made different versions of the same part, ie, two types of frames, two types of forks two types of legsheilds, two types of lower headset.

trial fitted forks last night and the steering stop when turning right is spot on, when turning left is way out Mad welder will be out of retirement in the morning.

bit more done today, rear frame badge on, horn that was not woking has had the rivets drilled out and then checked, it was a broken joint causing it not to work, tested it on the vespa, not great but certainly audable, was going to replace the internals with that of a 12v horn, but looks like there pressed in and the fittings splayed on the rear.

anyway its now on Smile

number plate and back light unit modified for indicators.
seen original numberplates with mounting halfway down numberplate but it would end up covered in muck from the exhaust.

Was going to say that you put that in the wrong place.

I finally managed to get my switch rebuilt, and, yes, the indicator relay goes in the headset.

Where were the indicators up for sale? Haven't looked for a while. I don't need a set, and have a spare, but I know someone who wants to put them on their GP.

loom has been cut now, was not realy wanting to do this, but if engine needed to be taken out it would have meant seat and petrol tank off also.

used the junction box to match all wires together, kicked it over to check, sparking like a good un Smile

tongue mine makes sence where it is, no exhaust blowing out onto it, no road grime covering it, high enough so car drivers can see it better Basketball

latest project - Page 2 Empty why are you talking about making sense?

Post  siobhanellis Mon May 02, 2011 3:40 pm

It's a Vega... why are you talking about Making Sense?

Your indicators will be seen because they are 12v, not 6v

Haven't you move the indicators closer to the exhaust?

We have snow. On mountains, or in New Zealand, where you can ski down it. Definitely not in your back yard!

Whatever delusions of making sense makes you happy! :-)
