Hi guys, vega noob here.
working on a vega engine that came to me in pieces. I have the mag style shown on the left
can someone tell me the bearing number and seal types needed for this particular mag flange type?
Thanks

Re: vega mag question
Thanks I grabbed it from this site.
Just want to make sure I get the right flange for the crank I have.
There was a new mag flange in the box of bits (no bearings or seals) but I think it is the needle bearing type. The crank is the later style that goes with the ball bearing mag type.
I saw the assembled mag flange on the Scooter Restorations site. It doesn't mention which type it is.
I'm on the other side of the pond so I was hoping to source the bearings and seals locally.
I just went through every post on the LCGB and the archive LCGB in the Lui/Luna/Vega sections. Learned a lot!
Cheers,
Aaron

Re: vega mag question
the mag flanges on scooter restorations site will be the 3 part needle roller bearing, the type on the left of the picture.

Re: vega mag question
The needle bearing is from German manufacturer INA and quite a rare (expensive) version.
Type is: NAO 20-37-16 so measurents are 20x37x16mm.

Re: vega mag question
So are the ball bearing type mag flanges available? or...are the cranks that use the needle bearing style available?
Are we talking rocking horse poo?
Any leads would be appreciated. I've struck out in my search so far.
Thanks

Re: vega mag question
neither the ball bearing type mag flange or either of the cranks are readily available.
i have the part number (somewhere) for the bearing for the single pice ball bearing .

Thanks!
That looks like the correct housing.
Hope they actually have them in stock.
I assume that is the outer seal, so is there no inner seal (against the crank)?

Re: vega mag question
Finally have the proper mag housing, bearing and outer seal....Thanks Snails!!!
One question, is there anything that fits between the crank and the mag bearing? A seal or other part?
There seems to be a lot space. The earlier style mag housing with the two piece bearing has an inner and outer seal. If there is no part is seems strange they would change the design so radically. Does anyone know the reason???
Thanks
