Most of you of course will know that there had two Cometas been prepared by Innocenti for display on the Tokio Motor Show 1968.
As I'm planning to do a replica of one of them I'm looking for fotos showing the original version.
The bike shown in Vittorios book (see pic) is also a replica of the original bike so it's not 100% correct. (also no sense to make the replica of the replica...)
Cometa 'Tokyo Motor Show 1968' replica Tokio_replica_1155n

Luckily last week I managed to get copys from the only two existing original Innocenti pictures (Polaroids) showing the two bikes before shipment. (Unfortunately Vittorio didn't allow me to put the pics on net so I can only tell you that the second bike looked quite different in painting...sorry.)

Since both pictures are showing the bikes only from front & left side the question is - how did they paint the right side and the back?
Strangely I couldn't find any information or pictures of the Tokio Show on the Net but I cannot believe the Japanese didn't take any pictures of these beauties.

Was someone else more successfull and found some pictures of the original bikes???

the last time i was in coxy's museam (6 years ago) i was there almost all day, boring each other and rob devlin with various luna related nonsense, he was far knowledgeable than me, he showed me a huge picture of the japanese machine, must be easily 4ft long, so perhaps stuart langing could help you out, he had also several vega sales brochures in japanese (which he would not part with Evil or Very Mad ) despite knowing i collected such stuff, offered to sell me a length of lui wall paper though, which i refused at the time Embarassed

Again the bike is only shown from the right side...anyway I ordered it and will now try to contact the Motor Show Organisers, maybe they got an archive.

Oh, thanks zefarelly!
Any information is highly appreciated! I really can't remember seeing the bike at Eurolambretta...
Otherwise I would have enough pics.
Anyway the problem with the replica is the same like I have: according to Vittorio they too didn't know how the bike should look like on the right side.
Unfortunately all my contacts to Japan ended up with no new information.

The bike is at the painter right now, the legshield required quite a lot work at the front fixing area.
I hope the Biancospino will find the way to the metal within the next two weeks.
Will post some pics later.

Project is moving on!
Since a few weeks the bikes at the painter, no major problems except for the dents in the upper legshield - I had to remove the clamp to get the hammer in the right direction:

Not only italian beauties at the paintshop:
Cometa 'Tokyo Motor Show 1968' replica P10206829ubj

The murals will be done at www.farbzone4.de.
Spend 3hours last saturday discussing about the correct colours - we'll need a second session for sure...
After reworking the original Polaroids the colours look quite different to the ones used for the book.
Knowing we'll never get it 100% correct with help of 2 original Innocenti colour charts we're as close as possible - hopefully.

Cometa is back from painter before taking it to the Airbrusher a quick rebuild to see everything still fits fine:

Ok, some work left on the engine

Unfurtunately I'll have to hack & reweld the manifold to align everything correctly

Quick update - the bike is still at the Airbrusher so I spend the time working on the engine.

j125 cylinder welded up & drilled to suit Lubematic system.

very good work on the cylinder, have a word with tino, see if he can make some alloy j125 cylinders, i'm sure they would sell better than the 75cc kits he currently does, are you planning on somehow increaseing the oil flow due to the increase in cc's?

I will use synthetic oil anyway and will add (of course) 2% also to the petrol during running in a recommended in the users manual.
With the modern oil I don't think it will be neccassary to have more oil even with more cc.
You can change the oilflow also on a screw on the oilpump but I prefer to leave this tiny toy untouched...

Ok folks - finally here's the result!
I really spend every night & weekend to get that bloody thing ready for Eurolambretta and yes! We started on time but struggelt at the Dutch border with strange carb problems...which turned out to be a locked rear brake as I found out just yesterday! (So Eurolambretta trip was done on my ยด69 Jet200 without any problems)
I will change the sparewheel carrier for the original one this week since it looks a little bit overloaded to me...

Thanks!
Coil is the IDM one used on all Varitronic/Vespatronic.
It would nicely fit the original fixings since the hole distance is identical to the original one but with the 125cc cylinder cowl there's just not enough room so I had to put them offset.
